The newest addition to Chiacchia and Fleming’s team of skilled attorneys, Scott Printup’s unique background lends an equally unique perspective to his legal practice. The son of an enrolled Seneca Indian, Mr. Printup comes from a strong working class background and a long line of union ironworkers. Having suffered devastating injuries on the job that ended that career, Scott understands, intimately, the problems injured workers face.  Having been a plaintiff, he brings the perspective of “someone who has been there” to his representation of injured workers.

Mr. Printup’s legal career began with his successful completion of Erie Community College’s Paralegal Program where he earned an Associate’s Degree and graduated with High Honors and as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at SUNY Buffalo, where he also graduated with High Honors.  During the summer between undergraduate and graduate school, Scott attended a program for American Indians ("the Pre-Law Summer Institute for American Indians") at the University of New Mexico completing a semester's worth of work in half the time under professors from around the United States including Robert Clinton and Nell Jessup Newton, arguably two of America's leading authorities on Indian law. While there, Scott was offered a scholarship at the University of Utah where he attended for a year before returning to Buffalo and SUNY Buffalo's Law School.

Throughout his professional career, Scott has had the ability to work with and learn from some very talented lawyers gaining a good reputation in the legal community as well. He has represented individuals in Erie, Chautauqua, Genesee, Wyoming, Monroe, and Cattaraugus, Franklin, Oneida, Albany, Steuben, Seneca, Orleans, Allegany, Niagara, Bronx and Livingston counties. Scott has been admitted to practice pro hac vice (“for the purposes of the case”) in various jurisdictions primarily to assist other lawyers with cases involving “flex fans” as described in the Taft and Winsett cases.  As a trial lawyer, Scott believes one must learn the subject matter thoroughly, something he has done numerous times with respect to litigation involving electricity, auto parts, neuropsychological testing, magnetic resonance imaging and so on.

Except for his attendance at the University of New Mexico and the University of Utah, Mr. Printup is a life-long resident of the Buffalo, New York area.   He presently resides in Hamburg with his wife Lori, who also is a life-long Western New Yorker.  Scott's hobbies include downhill skiing, bicycling, hiking, swimming, traveling, attending Formula 1 car races, and golf.  Scott’s love of skiing lead him to become a member of the National Ski Patrol, working at Holimont Ski Club.  As a patroller, he is literally an EMT on skis providing on-hill first aid to injured (and sometimes just scared) skiers.  Scott looks at the Ski Patrol as accomplishing two things: helping others in need and learning first aid which in turn, helps with his knowledge of the human body’s organs, skeletal and soft tissue components allowing him to speak about those areas to juries, doctors and clients.  In conjunction with his duties as a patroller, he designed and built Holimont Ski Patrol’s website found at www.holimontskipatrol.org.

As an Associate at Chiacchia and Fleming, Mr. Printup’s practice will focus primarily on personal injury cases including cases for ironworkers, railroad workers, victims of car collisions and poorly made products, as well as slip and fall cases.
